Bill Ardolino has traveled extensively in Iraq and Afghanistan as a freelance writer and photographer. He has taken photos and video of combat operations, civil affairs work, tribal shuras, civilian outreach conducted by US, Iraqi and Afghan forces, as well as many scenes of day-to-day life for soldiers and civilians in both conflicts.

Ardolino was embedded with the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Army, the Iraqi Army and Iraqi Police in multiple locations in Baghdad, Habbaniyah, and Fallujah from 2006 to 2008. Ardolino was also embedded with the Afghan Army, the Afghan Police, the Afghan Air Force, the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army during 2010, 2011, and 2013 in the Helmand, Kandahar, Nimroz, Kabul, and Khost provinces of Afghanistan.
